Storyteller | Development Producer | Audience Whisperer

I’m organizing my fragmented digital footprint

I’ve got a LinkedIn, a personal website (this one, baby!), a business website (strangeriot.com), and some social media work promoting my scripts and production work. I need to unify some things, update other things, and maybe even downsize a little.

I’m starting a campaign in my life to better organize my freelancing work so that I can actually make something out of all this!

That’s it for now. I realized it’s been a few months since I posted, so here’s my update! I’ve been busy working on new scripts (for clients and for myself), productions (both freelance and for an agency), and figuring out how to move forward in this industry.

How to Get Somewhere as a Writer

I have a path charted out for myself and this is the first step forward.

As part of this, I’m journeying into consolidating my different social media profiles and bringing them all under one cohesive brand (my freelance screenwriting and content development branding, mainly).

I’m going to figure out which of the platforms I currently post on or want to post on would be the most effective for writers in my situation. (I’m mainly thinking it’s going to be LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok, and Instagram). Once I officially figure all that out, I’ll make the names, handles, profile pictures, and so on more uniform as branding elements. Finally, I’ll do a better job of consistently posting (on brand) to each of them.

I have screenwriting clients already but I’m always looking for more. I am really doing a push to figure out how to best network with those not necessarily in my position but those who can help me elevate my position. Ideally, they have a skill I don’t have and I have a skill they don’t have. Rising tides, right?

Are you someone who wants to help out? I want to help your ship rise if you want to help mine. Let’s tackle the increasingly difficult film and television industry together!

What is Scott?

Scott Duvall is a screenwriter, development producer, marketing director, and burrito enthusiast. Focused on telling the stories of life, Scott has built a career around getting the word out about others’ journeys and triumphs.

Enter the Zeitgeist

The process is simple.

You scream from the rooftops. I scream from the rooftops. You think it’s an echo, but then it keeps going. You realize it’s me responding to your initial rooftop scream. We find each other. We discuss the story you’re trying to tell at a much more reasonable volume. I research your audience and develop your story in a way that helps you connect with your target audience.

If you aren’t a fan of yelling across vast distances or it’s cold outside, we could try carrier pigeons or smoke signals, but emailing might be easier. Actually, yeah. Let’s just go with that.

Not sure you’re “story” material? That’s ridiculous. You’ve started a business or are helping it grow. There are more sane things to do with your time, trust me. Look at the other crazy people in history. Why do we remember them? Because they made a good story.
