I’m Pretty Sure…

Writer / Actor

Project Overview

Early into my tenure with Foster Consulting (at the time Foster Web Marketing), I was asked to help pen a new commercial for Dynamic Self-Syndication (“DSS”), our proprietary SaaS product. This was a social-first commercial that ran on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and several other platforms.

Personal Statement

I am very proud of the work we all did. We based it off commercials that were popular during that time and placed our own spin on things. It was an opportunity to inject some of my humor into our agency branding and marketing assets.

How I Grew as a Part of This Project

This was the first commercial I helped put together where I wasn’t running lead on everything. Therefore, I learned about how relaxed commercial production can be when working with an experienced team from the ground up. Coming on board as a copywriter, being asked to act in the production was a surprise that allowed me to warm up my acting chops as well! Further, while we had no budget, we did have access to Gearshift Studios, a long-time partner of Foster. This was an exceptional foray into how Foster handles its production and branding, which would serve me later down the road as head of Foster’s Video Production department just a year later.

Enter the Zeitgeist

The process is simple.

You scream from the rooftops. I scream from the rooftops. You think it’s an echo, but then it keeps going. You realize it’s me responding to your initial rooftop scream. We find each other. We discuss the story you’re trying to tell at a much more reasonable volume. I research your audience and develop your story in a way that helps you connect with your target audience.

If you aren’t a fan of yelling across vast distances or it’s cold outside, we could try carrier pigeons or smoke signals, but emailing might be easier. Actually, yeah. Let’s just go with that.

Not sure you’re “story” material? That’s ridiculous. You’ve started a business or are helping it grow. There are more sane things to do with your time, trust me. Look at the other crazy people in history. Why do we remember them? Because they made a good story.
